Supported Living

Everything you need, all in one place

Oakfield Community have been providing a specialised supported living service since 2016, at which time we opened our Yardley Hastings Home. Yardley Hastings home is a Grade 2 listed building, of which there is 12 individual supported living flats.

People living in these flats own their own tenancy and we provide personal care and support. We are continually developing Oakfield Community to fulfil the needs of young people that are looking for personal care and support and at the same time holding their own tenancy. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional level of care and support in specially-designed individual flats, where we support people to live as independently as possible. Within the main home there is a large shared space to encourage social skills, building friendships, reducing isolation and maintaining active and social lives. There are trained staff on duty 24 hours a day to assist with tasks and activities according to individual choice. Oakfield Yardley Hastings is within a rural location that has a calm and social village setting with a local shop, post office and 2 village pubs and a local transport system.

The people we support are given opportunities to continue to learn and develop new skills by way of an embedded approach that encourages them to be as independent as possible, nurturing a sense of ownership and belonging in their own home. Each person has a bespoke timetable of activities that is meaningful to them and which is created with their involvement in order to suit their own needs and preferences. In creating a service for people with learning disabilities, we ensure that our service is tailored to their individual needs, in order to help them develop within their own homes, enable them to develop their daily living and independence skills, and empower them to make choices by being heard and as such have as much control over their lives as possible.

In providing consistent and reliable support, we ensure that the people in our care are able to take every opportunity in taking control of their everyday lives. Our aim is to provide for each individual a safe, caring, responsive, effective and well-led environment.

Within the grounds of our Yardley Hastings home there is a Community Garden which consists of a Sensory Garden, seating, vegetable patches, with an array of flowers adding colour and scents to the garden.

Our Yardley Hastings home is situated just off the main road (A428) between Northampton and Bedford.
